This game was made as part of the 7 day CareJam in 2021
In the US, "One in five health-care workers has left their job since the pandemic started." (The Atlantic, November 16th 2021)
In the UK, "Mental health problems quadrupled in NHS staff during the first wave of Covid-19" (Nursing Times, April 30th 2021)
In this game we want to highlight the almost impossible choices and conditions healthcare workers are sometimes asked to work under.
You play as a healthcare worker at a hospital. Your job is to give the best possible essential care to the patients in the room, without running out of time and energy. Your choices don't just affect the patients wellbeing, but the result also has an impact on the players wellbeing. But an understaffed hospital means there's no winning this game.

Hey there, the monogram font is actually made by me, not Nico Fonts.
It's no big deal, since the font is Creative Commons, and no attribution is required. I was just cataloguing projects using it and though I should let you know!

Hi there, I'm confused as to how to "add this file" to play the game. What folder do I add it to? I think for us who don't have experience with Unity, it's a bit difficult to wrap our heads around ;)
I'm sorry! In the first download, you get a zip that you extract and get a folder that has things like the game and some other files in it. The missing file should be put together with those files
Does this game run on Mac or only Windows?
It only runs on windows. We could try to make a build for mac (We just can't test it)
No worries at all. I'll have access to Windows soon and very much eager to play it :)
I can't run the game for some reason, it gives a pop up saying "failed to load mono"

Ah! yes, the mono-folder was missing in the zip! There's a link to download the missing folder in the install instructions now
